We are seeking a compassionate and reliable **Support Worker**and a meticulous **Cleaner**to assist a participant in **Whyte Yarcowie SA 5420**. **About the Participant**: The participant lives independently in a single-story home with his beloved dog, Zip. He mobilises primarily with the assistance of a walking stick and occasionally uses a wheelie walker when needed. His mobility is affected by a right foot amputation and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Despite these challenges, he is determined to live life on his terms and is looking for someone who can provide the support he needs while respecting his independence and lifestyle.
**Position Details**:
- **Location**:Whyte Yarcowie SA 5420
- **Hours per week**:Flexible schedule for Support Worker + 1 x weekly cleaning session (Tuesday 8am-12pm)
- **Type of Role**:Part time
**Key Responsibilities:Support Worker Role**: As a Support Worker, your primary focus will be to assist the participant in maintaining his independence and enhancing his quality of life. Duties include:
- Accompanying the participant during shopping trips and assisting with handling shopping bags to and from the car/house.
- Helping put groceries away in an organized manner.
- Supporting the participant with light meal preparation, including planning, cooking, and clean-up.
- Assisting with gardening activities such as watering plants, weeding, or light maintenance.
- Providing companionship and emotional support when needed.
- Helping with pet care for his dog, Zip (e.g., feeding, letting him out into the yard).
- Encouraging and promoting the participant’s independence in all daily activities.
**Cleaning Role (Every Tuesday, 8am-12pm)**:
- Perform general house cleaning duties, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and wiping surfaces.
- Clean bathrooms, kitchen, and living areas to a high standard.
- Ensure the home is tidy, safe, and comfortable for the participant.
- Change bed linens and clean windows as needed.
- Empty bins and maintain cleanliness in shared spaces.
**Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For**:
- A kind, patient, and empathetic nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with the participant.
- Experience working with individuals with mobility challenges or disabilities (preferred but not essential).
- Attention to detail, especially for the cleaning role.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Physical fitness to assist with mobility-related tasks and cleaning duties.
- Comfortable working around pets (specifically dogs).
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.
