Desktop Support Specialist (Portland)

Key Responsibilities
- Scheduling and implementing patching and deployment of new and end‑of‑life systems in a 24/7 production setting with minimal impact (e.g., network switches, servers, SCADA servers).
- Monitor emails and logs, backups, network gear, and vulnerability scans.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support for infrastructure hardware and software.
- Participate in an on‑call roster. Job Requirements
- Certificate in IV in Information Technology.
- Good knowledge and experience with Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2016 and above.
- Good Microsoft Office / O365 skills.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Good PC and server hardware knowledge.
- Experience with Cisco network devices, wireless networks, and type‑1 hypervisors would be highly regarded.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- The ability to work alone on tasks in a proactive manner.
- Good judgment with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely.
- Outstanding customer orientation, i.e., the ability to build rapport and trust quickly and influence an audience through communication to arrive at the best solution.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills (active listening and ability to clearly summarize an issue in writing and verbally).
- Ability to read and write English ticket reference information on the Incident Platform.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, i.e., ability to apply a highly logical and well‑organized approach to analyzing and resolving issues.
