Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction for mechanical/electronics engineering requirements on surface ship/submarine mechanical/electronics systems for all non‑nuclear support work.
- Conduct independent and collaborative engineering studies, investigations, and analysis using industry or recent engineering principles to solve unusual or unprecedented engineering problems.
- Serve as a technical advisor and ship‑platform subject matter expert.
- Act as a lead/oversight mechanical/electronics troubleshooter in identifying and resolving problems encountered during installation, grooming, or testing phases of waterfront production efforts.
- Work with various shop and codes program analysts to identify, develop, and implement process‑improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper liaison with Production Resources, Operations, Logistics, and Acquisition departments to provide rapid response for resolution of problems regarding work on surface ship/submarine components. Qualifications
- At least one year of specialized experience at the GS‑11 grade level or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
- Experience leading projects and serving as a technical advisor on mechanical/electronics engineering for naval vessels.
- Proficiency with intermediate‑level (I‑Level) maintenance, installation, modification, overhaul, and operation of combat systems on U.S. Navy ships, primarily fast‑attack submarines.
- Experience using MSE apps, eFORMS, and other I‑Level project‑management tools.
- Demonstrated coaching and mentoring of others.
- Completion of Engineer/Engineering Tech and Lead Engineer Development Cards per CSD SOP 02.
- SUBSAFE qualification per N/S 0924‑062‑0010. Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must be eligible for federal employment and able to participate in the direct‑deposit pay program.
- Must obtain and maintain a U.S. passport and, if required, a foreign visa.
- Must obtain and maintain a security clearance prior to duty.
- Must be able to travel internationally and reside overseas in accordance with Department of Defense travel regulations.
- Must successfully complete a pre‑appointment physical examination.
