The Opportunity We’re looking for a commercially curious Commercial Finance Analyst to join our growing Commercial Finance team, supporting the Merchandise and Marketing portfolio. This role partners closely with our Merchandise team, including Buyers and key commercial stakeholders, to provide financial insights that support trading performance, margin outcomes, supplier agreements, promotional activity and rebate management. You’ll be working in one of the most commercially active areas of the business, helping translate financial data into clear insights that support better decision-making. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in commercial finance, management accounting, financial analysis or retail/FMCG finance who is ready to step closer to the commercial side of the business. You do not need to have deep rebate experience, but you’ll need to be comfortable working with detail, asking questions, understanding commercial drivers and building strong relationships with stakeholders. What You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will:
- Partner with the Merchandise team to provide day-to-day commercial finance support
- Analyse sales, margin, rebates, promotional activity and trading performance
- Support Buyers with financial insights relating to supplier agreements, trading terms and promotions
- Assist with rebate management, including accruals, reporting, reconciliations and collections
- Prepare monthly reporting and commentary on key performance drivers
- Investigate variances to budget, forecast and prior periods
- Support budgeting and forecasting for the Merchandise portfolio
- Help identify risks and opportunities across margin, supplier income and promotional performance
- Maintain strong financial controls and governance across trading gross profit
- Contribute to process, reporting and BI improvements to enhance visibility and decision-making About You You’ll bring strong analytical capability, commercial curiosity and the confidence to work with stakeholders outside of finance. You may come from commercial finance, management accounting, business partnering, FP&A;, retail, FMCG, wholesale, supply chain or a similar analyst background. To be successful, you will ideally bring:
- Experience in a finance analyst, commercial analyst, management accounting or business partnering role
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large volumes of data
- Ability to analyse financial performance and explain key drivers clearly
- Strong attention to detail, particularly around reconciliations, accruals and reporting
- A proactive and curious mindset — you enjoy understanding the “why” behind the numbers
- Solid communication skills and confidence working with non-finance stakeholders
- Exposure to retail, FMCG, wholesale, merchandise, pricing, promotions, margin or rebates will be highly regarded
- CA/CPA qualification, or working towards, will be viewed favourably
