Background Newpave Asphalt are an independent, Australian owned Company, that employs 113 fulltime people. Following the acquisition by Heidelberg Materials, of Maas Holdings, we will be one of only two Australian owned Asphalt Producers in NSW. We provide competitive tendering for TFNSW, and Road Maintenance services, to all levels of Government and the private sector in the Hunter and Northwest NSW. Newpave Group own and operate three state-of-the-art Asphalt Manufacturing Plants, all supplied from Intrame, located in Spain. These Plants support Infrastructure Maintenance in the below three locations.
· Moree – This Plant supports crucial infrastructure maintenance in Northwest NSW, no other Asphalt Plant between Tamworth and Toowoomba.
· Muswellbrook – This Plant supports crucial infrastructure maintenance in Upper Hunter, no other Asphalt Plant between Newcastle and Tamworth.
· Warnervale – This Plant supports crucial infrastructure Maintenance and provides competitive pricing on the Central Coast NSW, as there is only one other Asphalt Plant in the Area, and the population is set to rise to 380 000 by 2031. The Role: Newpave are seeking an experienced metal fabricator to:
· oversee the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of asphalt production facilities.
· operate machinery and tools such as welders, grinders, cutting saws, drills and bending machines to manufacture metal products;
· fabricate custom metal structures and install fabricated metal structures into asphalt plants
·
· Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
· Setting guides, stops and other controls on machining tools
· Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance of plant machines, and overhauling and repairing mechanical parts and asphalt plants for safety compliance, and production optimisation, with a particular focus on Intrame asphalt plants. Job Specific Requirements
· Fluent spoken and written Spanish and English.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Intrame production facilities.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience building, installing, commissioning, maintaining, and repairing Intrame asphalt plants.
· Demonstrated experience in asphalt plant production, plant reliability, and preventative maintenance planning.
· Strong mechanical fitting skills across conveyors, bucket elevators, dryers, burners, mixers, screens, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, and bitumen handling systems.
· Ability to diagnose and rectify faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, and hot oil systems.
· Experience with baghouse and dust collection systems, including inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, technical schematics, and plant layouts.
· Competence in welding, cutting, fabrication, and alignment of plant components.
· Working knowledge of plant automation, instrumentation, control panels, sensors, and basic PLC fault-finding.
· Proven understanding of burner systems, dryer performance, temperature control, and mix quality requirements.
· Experience carrying out shutdown works, breakdown response, and planned maintenance in high-temperature industrial environments.
· Solid commitment to workplace health, safety, environmental compliance, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work systems.
· Ability to supervise contractors, coordinate maintenance crews, and support training of plant personnel.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including early starts, night shift, weekends, and emergency call-outs when required.
· Current driver’s licence and ability to travel to plant and project locations as required. Preferred Qualifications / Tickets
· Minimum of 5 years full-time experience relevant to the job requirements
· Experience in metal fabrication, asphalt, quarrying, road construction, or heavy process plant environments.
· High-risk work licences or tickets relevant to the role (for example forklift, dogging, rigging, elevated work platform, or confined space).
· Construction industry white card and current first aid training.
