Support Worker (Part-time) (Woodcroft)

We are building nothing less than _**the best team of support workers in Adelaide's **_south. Ranging from the CBD to the Fleurieu Peninsula (although we've got a few outlying clients in the city's Northern Suburbs). The continuing expansion of Heartfelt Support will give exceptional people the chance to be a vital part of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to equity and capability building for our clients. In particular, right now, we are looking for the right people to work with our teenage clients.

We'll pay well, of course, but what we really hope to inspire you with is:

- You won't be second fiddle to therapists or other members of the team, you'll be recognised for the importance of what you do

**So, what's the job?** Well, it's nothing more or less than assisting people with a disability to enjoy the same lifestyle as anyone else. Think about your own life: you enjoy a trip out
- to the library? To the beach? To an art class? You sometimes need to go to the shops or to visit a doctor. Do you want to work on your fitness, or start a business, or catch up with someone over coffee? Well, so do people with a disability, of course. **This job is to make that happen for someone who just needs some help. **And always obey our Support Worker mantra, which is "Don't be boring". You may be with someone for only a few hours per week, but that may be a very key few hours to them.

POSITION 1
- _**We need someone who can play guitar**_. We have clients who visit our music centre and also those in their own home how enjoy playing/learning the guitar.

POSITION 2
- _**Experience with horses needed**_. As we have a thriving equine therapy business, we need support workers with horse experience.

**So what about you?**

Well, you might have a relevant qualification. Terrific! You also might not. Not everyone learns this stuff in a classroom. We love to see First Aid certificates, but it's not mandatory and we can even help you get one. You'll have to pass a bunch of worker/police checks. More than the above, you'll have a great enthusiasm for helping others. You'll be cool in a crisis. You'll be almost obsessed with being reliable and punctual. You'll be the sort of person that can pull apart any mistakes you make and ensure they don't happen twice. You'll be able to communicate with anyone. You'll be a roll-up-your-sleeves, no-time-like-the-present doer, not a bystander.

For our younger clients, we need younger or young at heart people. People who can talk to them about what they like to do, whether it's video games or D&D;, footy or netball, TV or the news. They have school issues and all the usual growing-up drama.

**Did we mention horses?**

We also run equine programs, so people who are comfortable with and around horses are a definite plus. It's not mandatory, but once you see their sweet little faces you'll be begging for horse shifts!
