Cook – Full time
A South East restaurant is seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. This is a full-time position, ideal for someone who can deliver consistent quality, strong flavours, and efficient service in a busy kitchen.
About the role
As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking North Indian dishes to a high standard, maintaining kitchen operations, and supporting the team during service. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure dishes are delivered on time, to specification, and in line with food safety standards.
Key responsibilities Prepare, cook and present North Indian dishes including curries, dals, sabzi, rice items, snacks/chaat (as required), and accompaniments Prepare gravies, masalas, marinades, chutneys and mise en place efficiently to meet daily service demands Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, quality and presentation across all services Assist with daily prep, cooking during peak periods, and plating to maintain service speed and quality Maintain strict kitchen standards including cleanliness, hygiene, and secure food handling procedures Follow food safety practices including temperature control, storage, labelling, and FIFO stock rotation Monitor stock levels, minimise wastage, and assist with ordering and inventory management Assist with menu specials and improvements to existing dishes based on customer feedback Support and guide kitchen staff during prep and service as required Ensure kitchen equipment and workstations are maintained and used safely
Mandatory requirements Minimum 3 years of experience in hospitality (mandatory) Proven experience in a restaurant or high-volume kitchen Strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spice balance, and preparation of gravies/masalas Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and maintain speed without compromising quality Robust teamwork and communication skills Commitment to hygiene and food safety standards (Food Safety Certificate preferred or willingness to obtain)
