About the role FreshGro Australia is seeking a skilled Tractor Driver (Ground Prep) (seeder) to join our team in Richmond, Tasmania. Alongside our new professional management team, we are looking to run another seeding position with all-year-round employment. This is a full-time position, responsible for operating various agricultural machinery to prepare the land for planting and seeding. As a vital member of our horticulture operations, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective preparation of our fields for successful crop cultivation and seeding. Attention to detail is a must in this role. Training Provided. What you'll be doing 1. Operate tractors and other ground-preparation equipment, such as Rippers, Rotary Hoes, and seeders, to till, cultivate, and seed the land. 2. Maintain and perform routine checks on agricultural machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. 3. Monitor soil conditions and adjust equipment settings accordingly to achieve the desired seedbed preparation. 4. Collaborate with the farm management team to plan and execute ground preparation activities in line with the crop seeding schedule. 5. Identify and report any issues or concerns with the equipment or field conditions to the appropriate personnel. 6. Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure working environment. What we're looking for 1. 2 years of experience operating agricultural machinery, particularly tractors and seeders. 2. Strong knowledge of soil types, field preparation techniques, and crop cultivation practices. 3. Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on farm equipment. 4. Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills to adapt to changing field conditions. 5. Effective communication skills to collaborate with the farm management team. 6. Commitment to maintaining a safe and sustainable working environment. 7. Relevant qualifications or certifications in agricultural machinery operation or horticulture would be highly regarded.
