About the Role Reporting to the Maintenance Manager – Track & Civil, this role is responsible for managing the safe delivery of engineering, maintenance, renewals and capital projects on the Carmichael Rail Network. Key Deliverables:
- Safety Leadership: Set the standard for safety at Bowen Rail Company. Demonstrate visible safety leadership in line with the values
- Ensure compliance with all HSE Policies and Procedures, Rail Safety Management, Statutory Legislation including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other relevant rail site rules
- Liaise with supervisors and teams to ensure safety compliance and the creation of a protected working environment
- Ensure safety risks are mitigated by conducting field leadership activities.
- Participate in safety meetings and assigned projects, reviewing incidents and implementing change
- Plan and execute maintenance projects taking into account safety, environmental, cost, quality & engineering considerations
- Undertake project management activities including scoping, budgets, documentation for track & civil assets
- Lead planning activities within assistance from internal stakeholders
- Ensure risk assessment techniques are adopted during the planning and execution process
- Develop and review maintenance and engineering standards, procedures and work instructions
- Provide technical advice to maintenance personnel including maintenance partners
- Troubleshoot issues and engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage suppliers, maintenance partners and third party contractors as required as per contractual requirements
- Completion of Quality Assurance processes – ITP’s, method statements, site records, audits & other project documentation
- Participate in planning user groups, supplier reviews, forums, project and operational excellence working groups and general technical services meetings/discussions About You Core Capabilities

- Understands the requirements of the position and proactively works to deliver performance aligned outcomes Essential
- Previous 5 years’ experience in rail maintenance/ construction or related industry
- Tertiary degree in Engineering discipline
- Current Unrestricted ‘C’ Class Australian Drivers licence
- Proven experience in the delivery and execution of works in achieving required outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in planning and monitoring of resources within area of accountability
- Strong planning & organisation skills
- Effective problem solving and conflict management skills with experience in leading a safety culture
- Ability to commute across Bowen Rail Company sites. Desirable
- RPEQ Certification
- SARC
