Ventia operates Australia’s largest private firefighting service, delivering aviation, structural, and bushfire response capabilities across the country. With more than 20 years of experience supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF), we now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Training & Capability Manager to join our team located at Fleet Base West, WA. About The Role The Training & Capability Manager is responsible for the design, development, and delivery of emergency response training programs across Ship Board Firefighting, Aviation Fire and Rescue, Structural Firefighting, HAZMAT, Road Crash Rescue, and broader emergency response functions. This role ensures our Defence base firefighters are equipped with the skills, knowledge, competencies, and accreditations required to perform safely and effectively, inclusive of but not limited to driving, leading and governance mandates applicable to Firefighting services. In addition to managing training programs, this role is central to delivering high‑quality, compliant, and standardised fire and rescue services across the Defence contract. You will influence operational excellence by embedding continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and consistent service delivery across the Fire Services DBS contract. Key Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and deliver emergency response training programs aligned with contractual requirements, legislation, and industry best practice.
- Support the development and implementation of assessment tools, governance frameworks, and processes to ensure ongoing competency maintenance.
- Assist Fire Crews with planning and facilitating scenario‑based training activities, drills, and emergency simulations.
- Monitor compliance with operational and emergency procedures, ensuring alignment with standards and contractual obligations.
- Foster employee engagement by encouraging feedback, reviewing training outcomes, and implementing improvements. Security Clearance & Citizenship To be successful in this position you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance at Negative Vetting 1 (secret). As a result of this requirement, you must be an Australian Citizen. What You’ll Bring

- PUAFIR305 Respond to aviation incidents (general)
- HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid or higher qualification Skills / Experience
- Demonstrated capacity to introduce change, drive outcomes, evaluate performance, and navigate contentious issues.
- Extensive experience within high‑risk, diverse emergency response organisations (highly desirable).
- Solid background in firefighting and first aid, supporting high‑quality training and assessment delivery.
- Evidence matrix of skills and competencies relevant to firefighting operations and be able to achieve and pass Diploma (upskilling) units of competency.
