Mechanical Engineering Technician (Rocklea)

Due to our expanding product range, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to support our manufacturing operations.

The Role

This position provides technical support to manufacturing operations through machinery setup, tooling optimisation, maintenance, and process improvement. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on involvement with forming machinery and tooling systems.

Key responsibilities include:

- Setting up, monitoring, and fine-tuning manufacturing machinery using a systematic and technical approach
- Installing, changing, and removing dies, inserts, and templates
- Assisting in the operation and optimisation of thermoforming and plastic forming machinery
- Performing repairs and preventative maintenance on tools, machinery, and production equipment
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
- Assisting with tooling adjustments to improve product quality and production efficiency
- Completing accurate technical documentation, maintenance records, and production reports
- Supporting engineering and production teams to ensure safe and efficient operations

Skills and Experience
- Relevant qualification or qualified technical training in mechanical engineering technology, die setting, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in machinery maintenance, servicing, and mechanical troubleshooting
- Strong engineering aptitude with sound problem-solving and deductive reasoning skills
- Experience in thermoforming plastics or other plastic forming processes
- Hands-on experience with workshop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and hand tools
- Welding skills (advantageous but not essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production and engineering team
