About Barrow Island Barrow Island is located about 60 kilometres from the mainland and approximately 139 kilometres west of the Port of Dampier. It is also home to Chevron’s Gorgon Project and WA Oil operations, the largest oil field discovered in Western Australia. Ertech has been a major service provider to Chevron Australia’s Gorgon Project for over 10 years. On‑site accommodation is available with meal services, gym facilities (mixed and separate gyms, fitness classes), sporting facilities including a football field, golf simulator, bike hire, two swimming pools, basketball court, tennis court, and a cricket pitch. About the Role We are recruiting an experienced HSE Advisor to join our Resources team supporting the long‑term Civil and Electrical Construction scopes at Barrow Island. As the HSE Advisor, you will lead health, safety and environmental performance on site, ensuring compliance with HSE systems, managing incidents, and supporting project teams to maintain a safe and productive working environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead HSE performance across projects, including hazard identification, risk control and achievement of HSE objectives.
- Manage incidents and injuries, including reporting, corrective actions, return‑to‑work programmes and workers’ compensation.
- Ensure compliance with HSE systems, procedures and legislative requirements.
- Prepare HSE reports and lead indicators for senior management review; communicate issues to the Project Manager, Operations Manager and HSEQ Manager and propose solutions.
- Build strong client relationships and respond proactively to client safety needs.
- Actively participate in safety leadership and operational meetings. Qualifications and Experience
- 7+ years of experience within the Oil & Gas industry, with a comprehensive understanding of industry standards, legislation and codes of practice.
- Tertiary qualification in Science, Health, Safety & Environment or related discipline (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred).
- First Aid certification within 3 years.
- CPR certification within 1 year.
- Gas/Atmosphere test certification within 3 years.
- Proficiency in work‑area planning, scheduling and programme management.
- Highly developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Accredited Internal and Lead Auditor across Integrated Management Systems including OHS, Quality and Environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a police clearance.
