Sales and Design Engineer (Shire of Ashburton)

We’re looking for a Sales & Design Engineer to join our high‑performing Sales & Design team based in Ashburton. This role offers flexibility, autonomy and strong professional development for the right person. This role would suit:
- An irrigation or water professional ready to take the next step
- A technically minded sales professional wanting to deepen their design capability
- An engineer, technician or rural skilled keen to specialise in irrigation What you’ll be doing
- Designing practical, high‑quality irrigation solutions using industry‑leading tools
- Managing the end‑to‑end sales and design process for your own client portfolio
- Building trusted relationships with farmers, growers and rural businesses
- Providing technical advice across new installations and system upgrades
- Helping clients improve efficiency, productivity and long‑term performance What you’ll bring
- Strong communication skills and a customer‑focused mindset
- Experience in sales, engineering, irrigation, water, or a related field
- Confidence working with rural customers and understanding their challenges
- Technical aptitude and willingness to learn irrigation design (or further develop it) Previous irrigation design experience is an advantage – but not essential. We provide training, mentoring and support to help you succeed.
