- Salary Package: Academic Level B, pro-rata equivalent of $123,435 p.a. plus

- Based at Northern Beaches Clinical School (Macquarie University)
In their final year, Macquarie Medical Students undertake a 4 week PRINT placement, currently with the inpatient General Medicine and Geriatric teams at Northern Beaches Hospital.

About the Role
In their final year, Macquarie Medical Students undertake a 4-week PRINT placement, currently with the inpatient General Medicine and Geriatric teams at Northern Beaches Hospital. This role provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of these PRINT placements, ensuring a high-quality learning experience that aligns with the Macquarie MD curriculum.
You will work closely with Clinical Supervisors and the Head of Clinical School to support student engagement, academic progress, and supervision. The role also contributes to assessment, curriculum development, and continuous improvement in teaching and learning across the clinical school. By fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace, you will play a vital role in preparing students for professional medical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Co-ordination_- Ensure brief introduction to PRINT placements for each rotating student cohort.- Maintain awareness of the availability and accessibility of clinical learning opportunities which are relevant to patient care in PRINT rotations and facilitate appropriate student involvement.- Oversee the academic progress of students, while on PRINT placement in compliance with the Macquarie MD course requirements (i.e. academic progression, fitness to practice or inherent requirement).- Liaise with Clinical Supervisors for teams with PRINT students and inform the Head of Clinical School of concerns regarding students who may be ‘at-risk’ of failing to progress.
- Learning and Teaching Quality_- Ensure that Clinical Supervisors for PRINT terms are adequately briefed about the Macquarie MD learning program and placement objectives in rotations in Medicine.- Ensure that PRINT students have adequate supervision whilst on placement.- Supervision for the PRINT predominantly occurs via the allocated clinical team. The PRINT Supervisor acts as a point of contact for the clinical team.- Undertake the PRINT assessments including the student reflective report and the In Training Assessment (ITA) with reference to the PRINT activity logbook.- Perform one Bed Side Tutorial (BST) for Year 2 students per week during the clinical year.
- Resources_- Support curriculum improvement and teaching requirements through consultation with clinical staff and others.- Partner with the Head of Clinical School in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all allied health, medical and nursing professionals working to ensure adequate support for student learning during their placements.
- Student Outcomes_- Contribute to the development of assessment items and to the implementation of assessments of Macquarie MD students on clinical placement.
