Steel Fabricator Trade Assistant (Capel Sound)

Position Title: Steel Fabricator Trade Assistant Reports To: Workshop Supervisor / Leading Hand Location: Capel Sound Employment Type: Full time Position Summary Steel Fabricator Trade Assistant will support our qualified welders and steel fabricators in the manufacture, assembly, and installation of high-end bespoke steel window & doors. The role involves working in the first stage of our fabrication process preparing steel materials, operating tools and machinery, maintaining workshop cleanliness, and assisting with fabrication, delivery and installation while following workplace safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare steel and metal materials for fabrication, cutting, welding, and assembly
- Measure and mark materials according to shop drawings or instructions
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, drills, and basic workshop machinery
- Assist steel fabricators, welders, and boilermakers with daily workshop tasks
- Load, unload, and move steel products and materials safely
- Timber crating and packaging of steel products for both local and interstate delivery What we're looking for
- Welding experience in fine bespoke metal work is an advantage
- Excellent communication, coordination and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities
- Competent in reading and interrupting shop drawings & cutting lists
- Attention to detail
- Valid Australian driver's license (mandatory)
- Fork lift license (advantage)
