- Salary: Grade 4 + Superannuation + Salary Packaging About the role The Senior Occupational Therapist at St Albans Community Care Unit plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, recovery-orientated rehabilitation for consumers experiencing long term mental illness. As a senior clinician, you will lead occupational therapy practice across the program – providing advanced assessments, guiding therapeutic interventions, supporting functional recovery, and driving quality improvements. You will mentor and supervise junior staff, shape the group program, and contribute expert discipline-specific leadership within a multidisciplinary team. This role offers an opportunity to create meaningful change in the lives of consumers while strengthening integrated, community-based mental health services across the Western Health catchment. Your leadership will support Western Health's mission of delivering Best Care through compassion, collaboration, and excellence. Key responsibilities
- Provide advanced Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention, including Functional Capacity Assessment and sensory modulation approaches, to support consumers' recovery and independence.
- Lead and coordinate the CCU group program, working collaboratively with the Grade 1 OT to design, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based therapeutic groups.
- Offer discipline-specific leadership within the multidisciplinary team by contributing expert clinical advice, supporting decision making, and modelling high quality, recovery-oriented care.
- Lead the NDIS portfolio for CCU, supporting the team and other case managers with access requests, preparing high quality functional capacity reports, consulting with support coordinators, and ensuring that consumers receive proper supports aligned with their recovery goals.
- Manage a consumer case load as Case Manager, including participation in intake assessments, multidisciplinary reviews, and discharge planning.
- Strengthen partnerships with external agencies, including NDIS providers, community teams, employment agencies to enhance functional outcomes for consumers.
- Support the Program Manager and Team Leader with delegated leadership duties, contributing to operational and strategic priorities of St. Albans Community Care Units. About you AHPRA Registration & Approved OT Qualification
- Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and completion of an approved Occupational Therapy degree. Significant Mental Health Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in mental health, with demonstrated skills in assessment, therapeutic engagement, and evidence-based intervention. Advanced Occupational Therapy Practice Skills
