Senior Forensic Structural Engineer Reporting to the Manager of Engineering Services, you will perform a dual role that combines forensic investigations and structural design engineering. You will determine the cause of damage for insurance claims or asset/building owners, prepare detailed causation reports and scopes of work, and develop comprehensive design packages for repairing and remediating identified damage.Responsibilities
Inspect and assess the condition of existing buildings and structures to determine the cause of damage. Identify design and construction defects with reference to code and damage causation. Collect data using photographic equipment and accurately record observations on-site. Prepare detailed computations for repairing small to medium structures.Deliver design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports. Provide construction‑phase support on a wide array of projects. Qualifications
At least 10 years of industry experience, with experience as a forensic engineer preferred. Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering. Member of Engineers Australia (MIEAust). Chartered Engineer and/or Registered on the National Engineers Register (NER). Interstate accreditations considered, including Registered Building Practitioner (RPEV) and Registered Professional Engineer (RPEQ).Proven experience with structural design software such as Spacegass, Structural Toolkit, etc. Solid knowledge of the insurance industry (claims lifecycle) including legislative framework, applicable codes and products.
