We are seeking a highly experienced
Senior Mechanical Engineer
to join our buildings team. In this role, you will lead and deliver mechanical engineering studies, designs, and specifications across a diverse range of infrastructure and building projects. You will work with minimal supervision, provide high-level technical consultancy, guide junior engineers, and manage projects and proposals as a true“seller/doer.”
This position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and requires strong design expertise across building services for new construction, upgrades, and modifications. This role will be focused on railway infrastructure as part of multiple large packages.
Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership&Design
Lead, contribute to, and perform mechanical engineering studies and detailed designs for buildings and infrastructure projects.
Prepare, verify, and self-check mechanical design calculations using both manual and software assisted methods.
Guide designers and drafters in the preparation of drawings; review and approve documentation.
Prepare and review reports, technical specifications, and project documentation.
Project&Stakeholder Management
Lead project teams to deliver major mechanical work packages on large multidisciplinary projects.
Manage small to medium multidisciplinary building services projects end-to-end.
Liaise confidently with clients, statutory authorities, and external consultants to negotiate critical technical issues.
Support proposal preparation, project budgeting, and delivery to quality, cost, and time requirements.
Build and maintain a network of client contacts; participate in business development and marketing activities.
Provide technical assistance, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
Work collaboratively with mechanical, structural, hydraulic, civil, and other building services teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Qualifications&Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Chartered Engineer / CPEng / RPEQ registration, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Demonstrated practical and theoretical expertise in Mechanical engineering.
Proven experience in commercial or consulting environments.
Strong skills in concept and detailed design across a broad range of electrical systems.
Ability to manage and deliver complex projects with multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write technical content fluently.
Highly Regarded
Exposure to business development, proposal writing, and marketing activities.
Strong background in project and design management, including budget management.
