About the Company Our client is a dynamic engineering consultancy delivering comprehensive solutions for integrating energy assets into the grid. They specialise in designing, building, commissioning, and operating renewable energy and HV substation projects.
Role Overview We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership across all phases of energy projects, from concept and detailed design to commissioning and operations. The role offers exposure to utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, and HV substation projects, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders including clients, TNSPs, and AEMO.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical design for HV substations and renewable energy projects
Provide technical guidance and review for specifications, reports, and designs
Support commissioning and compliance activities across projects
Collaborate with grid connection and advisory teams to ensure seamless project delivery
Mentor and support junior engineers
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Minimum 15 years experience in HV substations and renewable energy design
Minimum 2 years of experience in Australian projects with full working rights
Strong knowledge of transmission, protection, and control systems
Familiarity with grid connection processes and Australian standards (EA, RPEV/RPEQ desirable)
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
