**About the Role**: Bayside Care and Support's Social Support Program provides older residents with an opportunity to maintain their connection to the community through transport via Council's 12-seater community bus. An exciting chance exists as we expand our service. We are seeking a professional and empathetic community transport driver to assist older people with transport to allow them to participate in social and community activities.
You will be responsible for:
- Transporting clients in the community bus to and from community amenities, activity programs, shopping trips and on bus outings, including planning the most efficient route for pick ups and drop offs.
- Contributing and supporting the efficient running of the Social Support Program through effective teamwork and utilising a solution focused approach.
- Ensuring passenger safety procedures are implemented and adhered to, and Victorian Road Laws are followed.
- Working in compliance with Council and Bayside Care and Support policies and procedures.
**Key Selection Criteria**: To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) or equivalent would be highly regarded.
- Current Victorian drivers' licence. Experience in driving 12-seater buses would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and empathise with older people and their carers.
- Demonstrated experience in the implementation of rosters, scheduling of passenger lists and researching suitable bus outing destinations would be an advantage.
- Excellent ability to prioritise tasks and ability to adapt to change within the day as required.
- Ability to follow legislative requirements and guidelines in relation to the range and nature of duties to be undertaken.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with clients, their families and staff.
- An understanding of the needs and issues affecting older people and their carers.
- Be able to evidence at least two Covid-19 vaccinations before commencement.
**Mandatory pre-employment requirements**:
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
- Be willing to undertake a premedical assessment check.
