Toy Library Assistant (Doubleview)

**Overview**

The Scarborough Toy Library is looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Toy Library Assistant to join our team! In this role, you'll be helping with the smooth running of the toy library and ensuring our members and volunteers have a great experience. Working closely with the management committee, you'll be taking care of a variety of tasks that keep the library operating.

The toy library is open every Saturday morning (except for holidays) from 9:30am to 11:30am, and your hours will be from 9:00am to 12:00pm. You’ll start the day by opening the toy library, overseeing our wonderful volunteers, and assisting with toy borrowing and returns.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Welcome and guide new members, making sure they know the ropes and understand the responsibilities of being a toy library member
- Coordinate our Saturday borrowing sessions, including providing advice and support to members, training and helping volunteers, and managing transactions related to membership fees and fines
- Work with the toy buyer to help manage the toy collection, keeping toys clean, safe, and organised, and tracking them through cataloguing and record-keeping
- Develop knowledge of the toy library collection and identify gaps for toy purchasing
- Attend monthly committee meetings and report on operational issues
- Manage premises, office equipment and supplies including Mibase database
- Most importantly, create a welcoming and fun environment for our members and volunteers!

- Strong organisational skills to keep everything running smoothly and in line with our policies and goals
- The ability to use positive judgement and make decisions in situations where guidance may be unclear
- Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and work independently with mínimal supervision, while still following direction from the management committee

Pay: $35.00
- $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3 per week

Schedule:

- Every weekend
- Morning shift
- Weekends only
