Role Description The Senior Control System Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in east Perth, WA. This role is responsible for leading the design, configuration, programming, and commissioning of industrial control systems for clients across multiple process industries. Day-to-day tasks include developing control system architectures, PLC/DCS/SCADA configurations, I/O lists, and functional descriptions, as well as performing detailed process control and safety system design. The engineer will conduct site visits, support factory and site acceptance testing, troubleshoot control and electrical issues, and provide technical guidance during installation and startup. The position also involves mentoring less-experienced engineers, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, preparing technical documentation, and engaging with clients to define requirements, present solutions, and ensure successful project delivery. Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Process Control and Control Systems Design, including experience with PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems in industrial environments.
- Solid background in Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering, with the ability to interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs;, and system architecture diagrams.
- Proven Troubleshooting skills for control, instrumentation, and electrical issues in operational facilities, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Experience in control and safety systems for process industries such as water/wastewater, mining, or oil and gas is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work effectively with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Proficiency with relevant engineering tools and software (e.g., PLC programming environments, SCADA configuration tools, and CAD for electrical design).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document designs clearly and present technical information to diverse stakeholders.
