About the opportunity Are you a finance professional who enjoys working beyond the numbers, using analysis, modelling and insight to support major decisions and long‑term financial sustainability? We are seeking a Strategic and Project Analyst to join the Finance team on a permanent, full‑time basis. This position offers the opportunity to work on high‑impact financial analysis, major projects and long‑term planning in one of Australia’s fastest growing local government areas. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining Council's 10 year Long Term Financial Plan and providing financial modelling, analysis and reporting across major programs, including transformational projects, developer contributions, land projects, domestic waste and large infrastructure initiatives. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you will deliver insights that support strategic decision‑making by senior management, the Executive team and Council. This role suits someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving and turning complex financial information into clear, practical insights. Your work will directly contribute to financial sustainability and the delivery of essential services and infrastructure for the Blacktown community. - A university degree in an appropriate field
- Minimum 8 years relevant work experience
- Demonstrated experience in strategic financial analysis, financial accounting and/or business analysis
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and communicate key financial and non‑financial data, to identify business unit costs and business improvement opportunities
- Current class C driver’s licence. Desirable
- Broad and strong understanding of local government operations
- Ability to negotiate and identify possible outcomes with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with reporting on major capital projects
- Experience using Technology One software systems
- Demonstrated expertise in financial modelling, net present values, scenario analysis and interest rate implications. Remuneration and benefits The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,338.60 per week
- 35‑hour working week
- Chance to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
