Overview Your role at St John of God Health & Raphael Services NSW Join a service where your expertise can make a profound difference in the lives of women, infants, and families. At St John of God Health Care, Raphael Services NSW is a specialist program dedicated to supporting families during the critical perinatal period. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a compassionate, community-focused model of care that prioritises early intervention, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. As the team psychiatrist, you will work closely with the Manager and a skilled multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care to women and families from the perinatal period until the child reaches four years of age. This role is for 0.2 FTE or 1 day a week, based at Blacktown, Sydney. Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychiatric PIMH services in line with the Raphael Services Model of Care and the Social Outreach Strategic Objectives and reflective of best practice, relevant legislation and professional standards.
- Provide secondary perinatal and infant mental health consultation and liaison.
- Provide clinical education, training and development of Raphael Services clinicians, trainees and students as appropriate.
- Where required, during employed hours, and within the context of the Raphael Services clinical escalation matrix, provide clinical advice to clinicians working in other Raphael Services.
- Work in partnership with other relevant health services and agencies in the development, implementation and/or evaluation of perinatal and infant mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention initiatives.
- Ensure that Child Safe practices are inherent in working with children and young and vulnerable people in all areas of service delivery, including on and off location.
- Ensure that children and young and vulnerable people are aware of their rights to a safe and abuse free environment and are aware of how to report any concerns.
- Immediately report any suspected, observed or disclosed abuse in line with the reporting processes, to line manager with view to it being reported to relevant protective authority.
- Work with children / young and vulnerable people in a way that is respectful and appropriate to any cultural / diverse background and ensure a safe setting is in place. Qualifications
- Current specialist medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
- Experience or an interest in perinatal and infant mental health and research.
- Experience in working with the disadvantaged in a community setting. Benefits
