**What’s the role?**
This role is responsible for helping shape how Mortgage Operations manages **operational risk and compliance**, including incident management, risk assessments, controls and change activity. You’ll be the key link between the business, compliance, assurance and second‑line risk partners, ensuring risk and control expectations are practical, explicit and fit for purpose.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to operational teams, supporting everyday decision‑making through strong controls and sound judgement. A key focus is embedding a culture of integrity, supporting projects and change, and keeping risk management simple, relevant and effective while protecting customers and the business.
This is a permanent fulltime opportunity supporting Mortgage Operations, based in Adelaide or Sydney, with hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 from home).
**What do I need?**
- Experience supporting **risk and compliance in operational environments**, ideally within banking and mortgage products
- Confidence advising on **incidents, controls and regulatory obligations**in a clear, practical and actionable way
- Ability to **test controls**for both design and operating effectiveness
- Strong judgement with the ability to **simplify complexity**and avoid over‑engineering risk processes
- Proven ability to **build trust and influence leaders**without formal authority
- Curiosity and commitment to continuously improving how risk is assessed and managed
- Comfort working with **risk frameworks, control systems (e.g. JUNO)**and supporting audit or assurance activity
