About Tauondi Tauondi Aboriginal College is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation committed to empowering strong people and supporting strong communities through the strength of culture and education. We are seeking a passionate and community-focused Aboriginal Community Educator – Correctional Pathways to support Aboriginal people engaged within correctional and pre-release environments through culturally responsive learning, mentoring and pathway development activities. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution by supporting Aboriginal participants to build confidence, strengthen life skills, explore future pathways, and prepare for successful transition back into community. About the Role The Aboriginal Community Educator – Correctional Pathways is responsible for coordinating and delivering the Living Skills and Pathway Program (LS&P;) and related pathway activities within correctional settings. Working closely with Aboriginal participants, correctional services staff and community stakeholders, you will facilitate culturally safe learning experiences that support participants to:
- Build confidence and motivation
- Strengthen communication and self-management skills
- Develop practical life skills
- Explore education, training and employment opportunities
- Prepare for successful community transition and reintegration
- Connect with positive post-release pathways and support services This role combines program delivery, participant engagement, mentoring, stakeholder collaboration and pathway coordination. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver culturally responsive learning and pathway programs within correctional and pre-release environments
- Facilitate group workshops and participant engagement activities
- Support Aboriginal participants through mentoring, goal setting and pathway planning
- Assist participants to explore education, training, traineeship and employment opportunities
- Coordinate program schedules, learning resources and operational requirements
- Build positive relationships with correctional services staff, Aboriginal services teams and community organisations
- Maintain participant records, reports and program documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement and development of learning resources and activities About You To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people using culturally respectful and responsive approaches
- Strong facilitation, engagement and communication skills
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with participants and stakeholders
- Understanding of barriers impacting education, training and employment participation
- Experience coordinating programs, workshops or community-based activities
- Robust organisational and administration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to supporting positive outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV or higher qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work or a related field
- Experience delivering workshops, group learning activities or community programs
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain)
- RRHAN-EC certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Driver’s Licence Highly Regarded
- Experience working within correctional, justice, community services or rehabilitation environments
- Experience delivering non-accredited education or pathway programs
