Full Time / Permanent / Band 7 plus 12% superannuation Work in a supportive, team environment Based at Alexandra About This Opportunity Murrindindi Shire Council is seeking a highly motivated Geospatial Data and Systems Officer to lead the management, governance and continuous improvement of our geospatial systems and spatial data. This role combines hands‑on technical expertise with strategic oversight, providing high‑quality advice and ensuring spatial data and systems are effectively used to support operational and strategic decision‑making across Council. Responsibilities
- Provide professional spatial information products, reports and technical advice to support Council decisions
- Act as the functional lead for GIS platforms and spatial data architecture
- Ensure geospatial systems are governed, secure and aligned with organisational priorities
- Manage spatial and asset datasets, including data quality, standards and lifecycle management
- Provide expert advice on system design, integrations and reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data quality and enable evidence‑based decision‑making
- Contribute to ICT governance processes relating to spatial systems and corporate data platforms What You Will Bring
- Tertiary qualifications in Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Information Services, Information Technology, Data Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience in a complex organisational environment.
- Demonstrated experience administering, maintaining and improving GIS platforms and spatial data systems, preferably within local government or a regulated organisation.
- Strong experience managing spatial and asset related datasets, including data standards, quality assurance, metadata, integration and lifecycle management.
- Demonstrated ability to work across business units to understand information needs, improve data quality and implement system or process improvements.
- Well‑developed analytical skills, including the ability to interpret spatial and non‑spatial data, identify trends, risks and opportunities, and present insights clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience preparing accurate, professional reports, maps, dashboards and briefing material to support operational, strategic and Council reporting.
