Shellharbour Airport has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain practical experience in the aviation industry while undertaking a Certificate III in Aviation (Ground Operations and Service) over 2 years.
As a Trainee, you’ll join our experienced Airport team and build essential skills across a range of operational tasks, including aircraft refuelling, daily inspections and reporting, vehicle and equipment upkeep, and supporting overall airport safety and compliance.
This is a unique chance to launch your aviation career while playing an active role in the smooth and safe running of a growing regional airport.
**To be considered for the traineeship, applicants should demonstrate the following**:
- A commitment to completing the study requirements, including weekly online learning and attending two face-to-face learning days each term at Wollongbar TAFE (located between Lismore and Ballina)
- A minimum of Year 10 School Certificate (ROSA) and a current NSW Driver’s Licence
- Provisional/Class C
- A positive attitude, demonstrated interest in developing skills relating to the aviation industry, mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate light machinery
- Good physical fitness and strong communication skills
This opportunity is open to both school leavers and mature age applicants who are eligible for admission to the Certificate III in Aviation (Ground Operations and Service) and who do not already hold a Certificate III qualification or higher.
The traineeship will cover both practical and theoretical requirements supported by TAFE. This role is a temporary 2 year fixed term development entry level role.
Council's Cadet, Apprentice and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to grow Council's skilled workforce capacity by creating job opportunities and a talent pipeline for specialised roles and to develop future leaders by providing employment opportunity and professional development experiences that support and complement a related course of external tertiary study. - Temporary full time up to 2 years (or the duration of the traineeship)
- 38 hours per week working over a 7 day roster
- Salary up to $809.70 per week (dependent on school level achieved & years out of school with a range from $398.70 for a school leaver up to $809.70 for 5+ years out of school)
- Penalties for Saturday, Sunday and Public Holiday hours
- Plus 12% superannuation
- On the job training
- Compulsory course costs are paid by Council
