Together we can do more. We are looking for a Registered Nurse to join our friendly team within the Renal Dialysis Unit. As a key member of our team, you will play an autonomous and self-directed role, delivering dialysis treatment to patients with minimal medical support. Our satellite unit offers a unique opportunity to enhance your professional skills and take on extended roles, including ultrasound-guided cannulation. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of person centred; evidence- based nursing care that promotes positive health outcomes. The Registered nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. The Registered Nurse will work in therapeutic and professional relationships with individuals, as well as families, groups and communities. The Registered Nurse will assist in the provision of supervision and support for less experienced clinicians and will maintain their professional accountability and development in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia's Standards of Practice. Support from all units may be called upon for any given unit at times, where staff may be asked to work outside of their base unit if they are available. For positions at Wollongong Hospital and Shellharbour Hospital there is a requirement to participate in an on-call roster once deemed competent. Staff not experienced in Haemodialysis will be required to work at the SDMH Renal Unit engaging in an education program, until competencies in haemodialysis treatment are reached (estimated timeframe is approximately 6 months). Shellharbour Hospital is a busy acute care facility which provides emergency services, elective surgical services, general medicine, antenatal and primary family health care, satellite renal dialysis, and adolescent and adult mental health services on site.
