Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, skilled and strategy-focussed Marketing Team Leader to join our Communications and Engagement Team.

Your experience and enthusiasm will help make a difference in the way our diverse community sees Council and their understanding of the services we offer.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing creative and cost effective marketing campaigns for key strategies and projects in order to change behaviours within the community and create awareness and understanding of the work Council does.

Your team provides a centralised marketing service to the organisation to enable departments to achieve their outcomes with innovative and effective marketing campaigns.

This role has responsibility for positioning, developing and maintaining the strength of the Greater Shepparton City Council “brand” within the Greater Shepparton community by ensuring Council is well presented, effective, and promotes a positive and agile image within the community.

You will provide a fundamental leadership role within GSCC through the provision of specialist advice and support to other staff in the organisation. Key to this role is the ability to think conceptually, creatively and strategically to achieve marketing objectives.

An ability to develop and nurture positive working internal and external relationships is essential.

Prospective applicants must have a relevant qualification or extensive relevant work experience in the field of marketing, communications, journalism and/or public relations. Experience in the marketing of events or tourism would be an advantage but not essential.
