Role The Operational Teaching Assistant (OTA) is a key administrative support role within Cobram Secondary College, designed to assist teachers and school staff by undertaking operational and administrative tasks that reduce teacher workload. The role supports the delivery of educational programs by managing routine processes, documentation, communication and organisational tasks that do not require a teaching qualification. The OTA works closely with teachers, sub¿school teams and leadership to ensure administrative functions are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with school procedures. The OTA is responsible for coordinating and completing a range of administrative and operational tasks across the school, including classroom preparation support, data entry, communication processes, event coordination and resource organisation. This role contributes to improving efficiency and enabling teachers to focus on high-impact teaching and learning. The position requires strong organisational and administrative skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a structured environment. Responsibilities Administrative Support
- Provide routine administrative support to teachers and school staff
- Maintain, enter and retrieve data from school systems (e.g. Compass)
- Maintain accurate records including student information, attendance and school documentation
- Prepare and distribute routine communications (e.g. notices, newsletters, parent information) Teacher and Classroom Support
- Support teachers with administrative requirements related to teaching programs
- Prepare, organise and collate learning materials and classroom resources
- Assist with uploading, formatting and managing teaching documentation
- Support classroom setup and resource organisation as required eg. Exams, SAC Program etc Events, Camps and Excursions
- Assist with administrative coordination of camps, excursions and school events
- Support bookings, documentation and record keeping
- Complete and prepare standard templates and required documentation Data and Systems Management
- Input and maintain accurate data in school systems in line with teacher direction
- Upload and organise documentation to ensure accessibility for staff
- Maintain spreadsheets, databases and tracking systems for school processes General Support
- Contribute to the efficient operation of the school through routine administrative tasks
- Provide support across different teams or work areas as required
