- Part-time Permanent Restoring Families Program | Goulburn OzChild is a leading child and family services organisation committed to strengthening families and keeping children safe, supported, and safely at home wherever possible. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Psychiatrist to join our Restoring Families MST-CAN® team based in Goulburn. About the Program Multisystemic Therapy for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN®) is an intensive, evidence-based program designed to support families where children and young people are at imminent risk of entering out-of-home care due to abuse and neglect. MST-CAN® works with children and young people aged 0–17 years and their families to improve safety, strengthen family functioning, reduce mental health concerns, and build sustainable long-term supports. About the Role The MST-CAN® Psychiatrist provides psychiatric assessment, consultation, treatment planning, and psychopharmacological support to children, young people, and caregivers engaged in the program. Working collaboratively within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, the Psychiatrist will support complex clinical presentations and contribute to evidence-based interventions aimed at keeping children safely at home. Services may be delivered within the home, community, office environment, and/or via tele-psychiatry depending on family and program needs. This flexible role is approximately 4 hours per week across up to 4 days. Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessments and consultation for children and adult family members
- Support evidence-based treatment planning and psychopharmacological interventions
- Work collaboratively with the MST-CAN® team and external service providers
- Assist with risk assessment, crisis response, and safety planning
- Liaise with hospitals, psychiatrists, GPs, and community providers as required
- Participate in weekly clinical supervision and fidelity processes
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
- Support culturally safe and trauma-informed practice About You To be successful in this role you will have:
- A Medical Degree (MD) with recognised Australian registration/licensure as a Child and/or Adult Psychiatrist
- Experience working with children, families, trauma, and complex mental health presentations
- Strong understanding of child protection systems and family functioning
- Experience managing acute mental health risks and safety concerns
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to evidence-based and culturally responsive practice OzChild offers
- Hourly rate of $244 per hour
