Job Description Key Responsibilities and Functions
- Provide recovery support and coordination for impacted residents, including acting as a key point of contact, facilitating access to appropriate services and trauma-informed support, and supporting case management activities
- Analyse and identify recovery needs within affected communities and support the planning and delivery of appropriate responses and services.
- Facilitate community engagement, information sharing, education activities and events to build awareness, preparedness and resilience.
- Lead the planning and coordination of community recovery events, workshops, outreach activities and engagement initiatives in collaboration with community groups and partner organisations.
- Support delivery of initiatives that strengthen community and organisational readiness for emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with government agencies, community organisations, businesses and not-for-profit organisations to support community-led recovery outcomes.
- Support local initiatives and planning activities that improve preparedness, safety and resilience and reduce community risk.
- Contribute to emergency management preparedness and planning activities, including maintaining risk information and supporting plan reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relating to recovery activities, program delivery, outcomes, operational issues and Council obligations.
- Assist with administrative requirements, including funding compliance, documentation and reporting obligations.
- Influence and advocate with stakeholders and partner organisations to ensure community recovery priorities are recognised and addressed. This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2028. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to work professionally and collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and relationship management, operations, service delivery and/or community recovery and resilience program coordination or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to support projects and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Understanding Victoria’s disaster resilience framework, including the MEMP, MFMP.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a calm and efficient manner and to develop innovative solutions while under pressure.
- Good working knowledge of council resources and operations and the locality’s geography, infrastructure, services and community. Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in community development, disaster recovery or community resilience programs. Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant tertiary qualification in community development, resilience planning, emergency management or a related field.
