Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Psychiatric Nurse – MST-CAN® Join OzChild and help keep children safe, families together, and create lasting change in the lives of vulnerable children and young people. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Psychiatric Nurse to join our Restoring Families Multisystemic Therapy – Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN®) team based in Goulburn. About the Program MST-CAN® is an intensive, evidence-based program supporting families where children and young people aged 0–17 are at imminent risk of entering out-of-home care due to abuse and neglect. Working collaboratively within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner / Psychiatric Nurse provides specialist psychiatric and mental health support to children, young people, and their families in home and community settings. About the Role This role is responsible for delivering specialist mental health assessments, psychiatric consultation, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and psychopharmacological support as part of the MST-CAN® treatment team. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting specialist mental health and psychiatric assessments for children and adults
- Supporting evidence-based treatment planning and interventions
- Providing crisis responses and emergency psychiatric evaluations
- Collaborating with psychiatrists, hospitals, community services, and external stakeholders
- Supporting family safety planning and risk management
- Participating in weekly MST-CAN® supervision and clinical consultation
- Maintaining accurate case documentation and clinical records About You To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Full registration as a Mental Health Practitioner/Psychiatric Nurse
- Accredited Nurse Practitioner qualifications including pharmacological and prescribing qualifications
- Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
- Experience working with child, adolescent, and adult mental health
- Strong understanding of child protection and vulnerable family systems
- Experience undertaking mental health assessments and crisis responses
- Excellent communication, engagement, and relationship-building skills
- A strong commitment to culturally safe and strengths-based practice Experience working with First Nations families and culturally diverse communities will be highly regarded. Why Join OzChild?
