Logistics and Shipping Lead (Smithfield)

**What you will be responsible for**:

- Lead and manage 3 shipping team members, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensure targets are met
- Provide coaching, mentoring, training and performance feedback to team members
- Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and continuous improvement
- Co-ordinate and oversee all logistics and shipping activities including reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate despatch of products, and communicating effectively where required due to delays
- Analyse logistics and shipping processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost reduction, and service quality.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address unexpected challenges to minimize impact on Vulcan’s operations
- Monitor key performance indicators such as shipping and documentation accuracy, and lead times, identifying potential risks and possible solutions
- Ensure supplier evaluations are complete
- Track and analyse data related to logistics and shipping operations, providing reports on performance, costs and opportunities for improvement.

**Requirements**:

- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Experience in logistics/shipping and/or supply chain
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and Divisions
- Out of the box thinker with the ability to problem solve
- Attention to detail
- Customer Focused
- Computer literacy, proficiency with MS Office, especially Outlook and Excel
- Highly developed time management, organisational and numerical skills
- Ability to set priorities, monitor workflow and improve efficiency of work practices
- Robust negotiation and influencing skills
- An ability to build rapport with suppliers and maintain relationships
