What You’ll Be Doing The customer service team in the Western Sydney office is expanding, and this role is key to supporting both sales and operations while building strong, trusted customer relationships. As the main point of contact, you’ll provide first-level technical support to customers, with the opportunity to develop into a trusted internal product resource over time. Importantly, this is not a sales or business development role as such. All customer interactions are inbound or follow-up in nature, allowing you to focus on genuine relationship building, customer service, technical support rather than cold calling. Your day‑to‑day will include:
- Manage the orders inbox and process purchase orders with a high level of accuracy
- Provide first-level technical support and assist customers with product-related queries
- Interpret basic part drawings and specifications to support product identification and selection
- Handle customer enquiries on ETAs, discrepancies, missing items, and product identification (including from photos/descriptions)
- Troubleshoot basic technical queries (flow rates, materials, seals, threads, fittings)
- Liaise with internal technical or engineering teams where more complex support is required
- Ensure all order and product data is accurately recorded to minimise errors and rework
- Coordinate closely with production, warehouse, purchasing, sales, and accounts teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment
- Monitor backorders and proactively communicate updates to customers
- Prioritise urgent and time-sensitive orders, ensuring agreed service timeframes are met
- Keep customers informed with clear, timely updates on order status and resolutions
- Support export compliance tasks, including customer verification documentation (training provided)
- Maintain and update customer and order information within ERP/CRM systems What You Bring
- Proven customer service experience, ideally within a technical or industrial environment
- Mechanical aptitude and genuine interest in how products work
- Background or interest in industrial, mechanical, fluid power, or hydraulic applications (highly preferred)
- Ability to problem solve independently using a logical, methodical approach
- Confidence interpreting product catalogues, part drawings, and basic specifications (materials, compatibility, threads, fittings)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Calm, solution-focused approach when handling customer queries or issues
- Strong communication skills and ability to build trust with customers
- Experience with systems such as Oracle, Salesforce, or similar CRM/ERP platforms, and basic Microsoft Excel Why You’ll Love It Here
