Machinery Managers (Virginia)

Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest grower and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports. We are currently seeking experienced and motivated MACHINERY MANAGERS to join our team on a full-time permanent basis, supporting operations at our Virginia site in South Australia. As a valuable member of our team, this position will play a vital role in the success of our operations. Reporting directly to the Packing Operations Leader you will be working in a packing facility environment. An attractive remuneration package between $70,000
- $90,000 is available to the right candidates. Duties include but not limited to:
- Supervise the effective operation and management of the packing shed production lines, ensuring customer orders are packed according to specification, on time, without incident or injury.
- Manage the packing line via an effective and proactive supervisory presence to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Liaise with the Product Quality Officer on a day-to-day basis to ensure the correct quality standards are met.
- Establish and control the production line settings to ensure accurate performance which meet specifications and packing instructions.
- Maintain full knowledge of all the protocols that must be met for horticultural packaging requirements, confirming packing instructions, labelling (cartons, crates, and pallets) and traceability systems match the requirements for specific customers.
- Control produce input and liaise with the designated WASH supervisor to ensure the effective and timely monitoring and management of all line functions.
- Ensure employees are effectively trained in machine operation, product handling, customer and system requirements, safe work practices and all other requirements.
- Assist in the management of all packing lines as required by the Facility Manager (Packing).
- Ensure that produce label applicators are functioning to their full potential and that general maintenance is completed when required.
- Conduct daily inspections, of packing machinery note preventative maintenance required, and report deficiencies to supervisors or the maintenance department.
- Supervise, assign duties, and coordinate workers involved in the manual grading of potatoes, onions and carrots, and the operation of the associated machinery.
- All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives. Requirements:
- Diploma level qualification in a related field plus at least 2 years of relevant experience OR at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience operating machines, with the ability to resolve minor mechanical problems (essential).
- Experience in a food packaging or processing setting.
- Experience in the processing of potato, carrot, and onion products (desirable).
- Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence.
- High Risk Work Licence (essential).

- A willingness to be hands on and participate in a broad range of duties, a strong work ethic is essential.
