About the Opportunity We are seeking a driven and commercially minded Project Accountant to support the financial performance of a critical sustainment program. In this role, you will deliver accurate, timely financial insights and partner closely with key stakeholders to support project delivery and informed decision-making. Responsibilities
- Program Reporting and Analysis
- Monitor, track and review project costs to ensure expenditure is accurate, complete, aligned with project budgets, and compliant with project cost eligibility requirements
- Prepare and manage invoicing in line with contractual requirements
- Partner with project managers and key stakeholders to provide financial guidance and insights
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, contracts, policies and internal procedures
- Analyse financial data to identify risks, trends and opportunities for improved performance
- Support month-end processes including journals, reporting and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support to External and Customer Audits (including annual contract true-up’s)
- Manage foreign currency requirements per the contract
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across finance and project reporting processes About you
- Tertiary qualified in Accounting or Commerce, with CA/CPA/CIMA (or equivalent) membership or progression towards
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in financial management within a project or program environment
- Advanced Excel skills (Power BI knowledge will be an added advantage)
- Ability to understand, analyse and communicate financial results of the business operations and financial consequences
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships
- Proactive problem-solver with strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level.
