**The Role** As the APS 5 Security and Facility Officer, your role reports to the APS 6 Security and Facility Advisor. Collectively the two roles are responsible for managing the Security and Facilities of Regional Maintenance Centre West (RMC-W) footprint at the Navy Capability Centre Henderson and a building on HMAS Stirling. As the APS 5 Security and Facility Officer you will be accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex protective security work within an integrated workforce.

You will be assisting the APS 6 Security and Facility Advisor and provide support by being responsible for undertaking the following Security and Facilities duties at two separate Defence sites:

- Managing Defence Common Access Card (DCAC) and ICT Network account creation and termination tasks for Commonwealth and Contractor staff.
- Processing security related requests received within the Security and Facilities group mailbox.
- EDRMS filing including management of staff security personnel folders.
- Management of staff Induction and Separation security related processing.
- Completing Overseas Travel Briefs/Debriefs and processing of associated forms relating to all overseas staff travel.
- Processing building access requests, including checking personnel security clearances and entering associated data into multiple registers.
- Establishing and maintaining security stakeholder relationships.
- Conducting Key Musters every 6 months.
- Attending security based meetings as necessary.
- Logging facility maintenance jobs either on Defence Protected Network or if URGENT by phone for any maintenance issues.

This position may be required to perform the APS 6 Security and Facilities Advisor duties on an ad hoc basis.

RMC-W resides within the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG)/Maritime Sustainment Division (MSD)/Maintenance Branch, with our headquarters located in Henderson, WA. The RMC-W is an integrated workforce comprising of military and APS staff at a range of levels.

The role of RMC-W is to provide maritime sustainment to the Royal Australian Navy surface ships via a contractual arrangement with Babcock (Regional Maintenance Provider-West). There are three other regional maintenance centres located in Sydney, Cairns and Darwin. Collectively (with Defence Industry) we provide Defence capability to the both the Surface Combatant Fleet and Minor Warfare vessels.

The successful applicant will have the following desirable experience and knowledge:

- Experience working in a team workplace (preferably in an integrated military and APS team).
- Experience working in a protective security environment.
- Detailed knowledge of the Protective Security Principals Framework (PSPF) and Defence Security Principals Framework (DSPF)
- or capable of learning.
- Knowledge of ASIO protective security guidelines and their relevance within the Defence environment.
- Ability to work in a secure workplace and to handle sensitive matters discreetly.
- Ability to influence and build relationships with a network of stakeholders.
- Ability to resolve complex problems and exercise sound judgement.
- Experience in being a Facility Officer with an understanding of Defence estates services (highly preferable).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
