About the Role Brisbane Grammar School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Communications Officer to join the Community Relations team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled storyteller and communications professional who thrives in a rapid-paced environment and enjoys bringing school stories to life through engaging and impactful content. Working closely with the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Senior Communications Officer plays a key role in ensuring consistency of brand, messaging and imagery across the School’s communications and marketing activities. The role works collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to develop high-quality publications, community communications and media content that reflect the values, achievements and spirit of Brisbane Grammar School. This role suits a highly organised communicator with exceptional writing and editing skills, strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for storytelling across print and digital platforms. The successful candidate will bring energy, creativity and initiative to a dynamic and collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities Writing, Communications and Publications
- Lead the planning, storyboarding and production of the School’s print and digital publications.
- Support the delivery of the Annual School Magazine, including writing, editing and proofreading content.
- Research, interview and develop compelling stories for School publications, website content, and email communications.
- Draft and edit content for a range of marketing and communication purposes, including invitations, flyers, advertising, editorials and promotional materials.
- Assist with the production of the School podcast, coordinating content, talent and external agency relationships.
- Liaise with staff, students, parents, Old Boys and community stakeholders to source stories, images and publication content.
- Review, edit and publish content for the School’s weekly eNewsletter and broader parent communications.
- Draft, edit and proofread external communications to ensure alignment with the Brisbane Grammar School brand and tone of voice.
- Monitor media coverage and provide communication support to manage enquiries, issues and crisis situations
- Monitor and evaluate communication effectiveness and provide recommendations to improve engagement across channels. Digital and Brand Communications
- Contribute to the School website and digital platforms to support accessible and engaging communication outcomes.
- Ensure consistency of branding, messaging and imagery across all communications materials.
- Adapt communication style and tone to suit a variety of audiences while maintaining the integrity of the School brand. Team Contribution and Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider Community Relations team to support School events, campaigns and communication initiatives.
- Contribute positively to a high-performing, fast-paced and collaborative team culture.
- Participate in relevant professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge of current communications, marketing and media practices. Qualifications
- A degree or relevant qualification in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline.
- Minimum five years’ experience in a senior communications, marketing or media role within education, corporate or not-for-profit environments. Skills and Attributes
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills across a range of print and digital mediums.
- A solid passion for storytelling and creating engaging community-focused content.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a dynamic environment.
- Experience with digital communications, publishing platforms and content management systems is desirable.
