**Position objectives**
This role is dedicated to providing exceptional customer service, ensuring that patrons and visitors enjoy a positive library experience. The Library Officer will deliver high-quality service, offer information and support, assist with library programs, and facilitate access to resources
**Key responsibility areas**
- Assist library patrons and community members to source materials and information, borrow, reserve, renew and return library materials.
- Demonstrate strong computer skills to effectively operate library software and assist patrons with using library computers and personal devices such as smartphones and laptops.
- Develop and deliver programs and services to the community, including but not limited to storytelling, school holiday programs, housebound services, class visits and related activities/events.
- File/shelve all library stock correctly to ensure resources are easily accessible.
- Actively promote library resources to the community.
- Collect payments for library services and products.
- Perform, as directed, other duties that are within the limits of the incumbents’ skill, competence and training.
**Desired Skills and Experience**: **To succeed in this role you will**:
- Have excellent communication skills
- Be a good team player
- Be highly motivated
- Be able to cope with large volumes of manual handling
- Have good problem resolution skills
**Qualifications and experience**
- Successful completion of Year 10 or equivalent experience in a similar field.
**Selection criteria**
- Demonstrated numeracy, written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of computer hardware and software programs.
