**Purpose**

The Risk Business Partner will be responsible for building effective organisational risk management, in the best interest of the Council, its staff and the community.

The primary objective of this position is to drive a proactive risk culture and consult, educate and provide high level support in the delivery of Council’s Risk Management Framework, as well as insurance and claims administration. With a key focus on contributing to effective risk management and decision making to achieve the Council’s vision and strategic directions.

This role is a positive and energetic contributor within the Strategy and Risk Team, and partners across the business to manage risk and strengthen risk maturity.

Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain solid relationships (with internal and external) stakeholders will be vital to this role to ensure meaningful change.

**Key Deliverables**
- Develop, implement and further integrate a varied risk management portfolio, in line

with legislation and best practice across council’s suite of risk registers, and insurance management.**
- Partner across the business and provide expert/specialist advice on complex risk

issues including providing a consultancy service and advice on risk and other liability matters that contribute to the evolving maturity of the organisation.**
- Coordinate incident and claim administration relating to motor vehicle, property and

public liability incidents. Proactively maintain up to date registers of all reported incidents and claims, including maintaining records of communication with key stakeholders, such as (but not limited to), City of Marion staff, residents, community groups, Local Government Risk Services schemes, legal representatives, insurance assessors and contractors.
- Communication of risk exposures as they arise to the Unit Manager Strategy and Risk

and LGA Schemes. Preparation of reports to the Executive Leadership Team and Finance, Risk and Audit Committee in relation to insurance incidents and claims.
- Maintain, analyse and review the corporate risk register(s), identifying trends and

developing responsive and proactive solutions for the mitigation of future risk exposure in line with Council’s risk appetite and assist the council to leverage any possible opportunities.
- Promote corporate assurance by providing fraud and corruption training/awareness in

alignment with the Fraud and Corruption framework, ensuring related tools are kept updated and relevant to minimise opportunity for fraudulent and/or corrupt activities across the business.
- Coordinate and provide advice on the procurement of appropriate insurance products

(including public liability, asset, event and worker’s compensation) which provide cover for all reasonably foreseeable risk events and administrating asset and public liability claims.
