**Position Description
- Unit Manager Community Wellbeing** May 2025**
**Purpose**
The Unit Manager Community Wellbeing is responsible for the strategic leadership of one of Marion’s key community-focused units, which includes the Positive Ageing and Inclusion, Community Centre and the Projects and Partnerships Teams.
The Community Wellbeing Unit includes Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Community Transport, Community Development, Community Centres, Arts and Culture, Community Grants and Youth among other services and programs.
The position is responsible for leading and motivating a large team to ensure they plan and deliver services in response to community and Council needs. Staff will be supported in a results driven culture to achieve excellence in customer service and community outcomes.
A solid focus on future opportunities and meaningful direction will ensure our community is well supported now, and in the decades to come, in relation to our services, programs and facilities.
**Key Deliverables**
- Develop and monitor plans for the Community Wellbeing Unit, addressing evolving
community needs, socio-demographic trends, lifelong learning, social cohesion, business performance, funding changes and/or needs, and Council direction.
- Lead and support teams across:
- Positive Ageing and Inclusion, including CHSP, Community Transport and future needs
- Community Centres, focusing on Council run facilities
- Projects and Partnerships, including Community Development, Arts & Culture, Community Grants, Youth, and similar initiatives.
- Ensure effective, innovative management of the Unit, including financial planning and
oversight, risk, WHS compliance, procurement, recruitment, resourcing, business case development, team culture, program / services evaluation and future planning.
- Provide expert advice and support to key stakeholders in relation to but not limited
to community services, ageing, diversity and inclusion, reconciliation, youth, arts, culture and vulnerable/marginalised people.
- Plan for current and future community needs through data-informed understanding
of population demographics, and the identification of trends, risks and opportunities.
- Oversee the Unit and staff performance, ensuring high standards and a supportive,
accountable environment for staff, volunteers, and contractors.
- Champion best practice in community capacity building.
- Prepare and coordinate reports, briefings, and business cases.
- Provide strong leadership, fostering collaboration, innovation, and results-focused
outcomes.
