A fantastic 6 month fixed term prospect has become available on a full time basis for a Building Surveyor to join the City's Planning Services branch.

In this role, the successful applicant will report directly to the Principal Building Surveyor and will carry out assessments and inspections to ensure that the City's built environment complies with the _Building Act 2011 _and all other relevant legislation and regulations, while upholding and consistently demonstrating the City's values of Supportive, United, Bold and Impactful.

**The key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to**:

- Carry out Building Certification assessments (Level 1 or Level 2 building registration).
- Confirm that alternative solutions comply with the Performance Requirements of the National Construction Code
- Conduct building inspections as directed and respond to safety and compliance issues.
- Undertake inspections of swimming pools in accordance with legislative requirements and the City's inspection program.
- Provide professional technical building advice to internal departments.
- Attend as required Council, tribunals and meetings with developers and stakeholders.
- In accordance with the _Building Act 2011_, the Development Services Directorate and the City's Compliance and Prosecution Policies, investigate breaches of legislation and prepare Building Orders and enforcement letters.
- Research and gather information and evidence for compliance investigations, tribunal enquiries and legal briefs for enforcement and prosecution cases.

**Essential Criteria**
- Level 1 or Level 2 building registration under the _Building Services (Registration) Act 2011._
- Sound knowledge and experience in implementing legislative requirements including (but not limited to)
- _Building Act 2011_
- _Building Registrations 2012_
- Building Code of Australia and Referenced Australian Standards
- _Building Services Registration Act 2011_
- _Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011_
- _Building Services Levy Act 2011_
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation
- High level customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic project management expertise with a continuous improvement approach.
- High level of computer literacy
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in contemporary construction building principles as well as contemporary knowledge of building legislation and standards.
- C-Class Driver's Licence.

**Salary package**: In line with the _City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025_, this position is classified as a Level 6. The salary range is $97,864 to $107,640 per annum pro rata, exclusive of superannuation.
