Ward Host (Subiaco)

Your role at St John of God Subiaco Hospital

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Ward Hosts who are passionate about food service and enjoy working with people.

In this role, you will support all aspects of food preparation, equipment handling, and the delivery and service of meals to patients, caregivers, and visitors across the Catering Services Department and the Hospital.

The Ward Host is responsible for maintaining explicit communication with the kitchen, ensuring meal requests are delivered to patients promptly, and returning to the ward to collect meal trolleys once meals have been consumed. This position plays an important part in providing a positive and supportive patient experience.

The role is offered on a Casual basis.

The Position:

- Delivery of patient meals and beverages to the patient in a timely manner and collection of patient meal trolleys from the ward.- Always providing excellent compassionate service paying particular attention to the needs of the patient.- Follow instruction and guidance from Nurse Unit Manager where appropriate, as well as following ward protocols and policy with particular attention to infection control guidelines.- Identify and escalate priority issues with the Catering Manager as well as providing feedback from patient comments.- Follow communication “scripts” for set up of the meal tray, delivery and collection of the patient meal.- Identify customers’ needs, clarify information, and provide solutions and/or alternatives.- Uniform worn in accordance with presentation guidelines outlined.- Provide suggestions of process and feedback from patients that would improve the meal dining experience.

A high standard of personal presentation and punctuality is essential, along with a strong customer focus and the ability to adapt to a wide range of personality types.
