The Job

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Quality Engineering Manager to lead and oversee quality assurance and testing efforts across our engineering squads. This pivotal role will drive the development and execution of a comprehensive quality strategy, ensuring seamless integration of manual and automated testing, and fostering a culture of quality excellence. You will be responsible for managing a distributed team of outsourced QA professionals in India and the Philippines, working closely with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver SaaS solutions that meet the highest standards of performance, reliability, and user satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership- Develop and implement the overall quality engineering strategy, aligning with the company’s goals and product roadmap.- Define standards for manual and automated testing, ensuring scalability, consistency, and reliability across squads.- Drive a shift-left testing approach, integrating quality practices early in the development lifecycle.

Team Management and Mentorship- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of QA professionals.- Promote collaboration between QA, developers, and product managers to enhance team effectiveness.

Automation Oversight- Define the strategy for test automation, including tool selection, framework design, and implementation guidelines.- Collaborate with engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and track coverage metrics.- Ensure automation efforts focus on high-value test cases that optimise efficiency and reduce manual workload.

Operational Excellence- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for quality, including defect rates, test coverage, and release readiness.- Conduct root cause analyses for critical issues, ensuring lessons learned are incorporated into future processes.- Advocate for and implement processes that enhance the overall software delivery pipeline, such as continuous testing and monitoring.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management- Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related topics across the organization.- Work with product and engineering teams to align quality objectives with product goals and timelines.- Foster collaboration across squads, ensuring consistency in quality efforts across distributed teams.

What You’ll Bring- Extensive experience in QA, and proven experience in a leadership role managing globally distributed teams.- Strong experience with manual and automated testing frameworks and strategies.- Expertise in automation tools like Selenium, Playwright and preferable Cypress, or similar, and integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.- Knowledge of performance, reliability, and security testing, with a focus on scalable SaaS platforms.- Proven success in managing QA teams in India and the Philippines (ideal), building collaborative and productive relationships.- Experience leading cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
