Senior Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment Sydney | Full time | Hybrid | $110k to $150k + super + meaningful equity Relocation and visa support available for the right person The Mission Can you take a machine from idea to production-ready hardware? Not a product part. Not a bracket. Not a polished CAD model. A full manufacturing machine. This role owns the mechanical design backbone of custom semiconductor manufacturing equipment, from early concept through detailed design, prototyping, validation, commissioning and production release. What You’ll Work On
• Lead mechanical design for custom manufacturing equipment
• Take machine concepts through CAD, drawings, BOMs, build and production release
• Design mechanisms, structures, pneumatic systems, motion assemblies and precision subsystems
• Apply DFM and DFA thinking before manufacturing problems become expensive
• Conduct tolerance analysis, FEA and engineering analysis where required
• Select materials, components, suppliers and vendors for mechanical subsystems
• Support prototyping, commissioning and continuous improvement of equipment
• Work with controls, mechatronics and software engineers on fully integrated machine solutions
• Help define mechanical design standards, documentation and workflows
• Reduce reliance on external vendors by building deeper in-house equipment capability What Matters Here
• 7+ years mechanical engineering experience
• 4+ years focused on manufacturing equipment, automation equipment or machine design
• Proven experience taking machines from concept to production-ready equipment
• Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks, Inventor or similar
• Strong understanding of mechanisms, pneumatics, motion systems and structural design
• GD&T;, tolerance stack-ups and engineering drawings
• Precision prototyping and manufacturing process experience
• Cross-functional confidence with controls, mechatronics, software and production teams
• Semiconductor or chip manufacturing equipment experience would be a major plus Nice to Have
• FEA and tolerance analysis tools
• PLM, JIRA or Confluence
• Startup or fast-paced engineering workplace experience
