A background in capital markets — particularly trading, clearing, or surveillance — will set you up for success from day one. **Key Responsibilities*** Design, develop, and optimize back-end Java solutions for a high-volume, critically significant trade surveillance platform.* Translate complex system requirements and business processes into robust, scalable software across multiple asset classes and data sources.* Drive continuous integration practices and maintain performance standards using profiling and monitoring tools.* Collaborate with multi-functional teams to contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle, from architecture through testing and deployment.* Apply deep technical expertise to identify performance bottlenecks, resolve issues efficiently, and deliver innovative solutions that meet evolving product requirements.**Required Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.* At least 3 years of software development experience, with strong expertise in back-end Java development.* Proven knowledge of core Java fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and networking protocols.* Proficiency with Linux environments and log analysis tools; familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and performance profiling. **Preferred Qualifications*** Experience in capital markets, fintech, or a regulated industry — particularly in trading, clearing, or surveillance functions.* Experience working with high transaction volumes and multiple asset classes (equities, fixed income, commodities).* Knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms.* Exposure to global teams and multi-functional collaboration in fast-paced delivery environments.This position will be located in Sydney, Australia and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 2 days a week in-office (may increase to 3 days in the future).This is a **permanent, full-time** role so candidates should have full working rights in Australia.
