About The Role

Clyde & Co is seeking an ambitious and highly motivated newly admitted lawyer to join one of our leading Insurance practices in Sydney. This is a rare opportunity to launch your legal career alongside Partner Christopher Smith, recognised expert in insurance law, with exposure to large scale, complex, high value, multi-party, multi-jurisdiction litigation.

As part of this team, you will work on high-profile matters for both local and international clients, collaborating closely with colleagues in London and across our global network. Our team is growing, and we're looking for someone eager to learn, contribute, and build their expertise in a supportive, close-knitted environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the preparation and management of client files

Draft, analyse, and interpret a range of legal documents and correspondence

Conduct legal research and prepare summary memoranda

Prepare and file court documents

Attend client meetings and teleconferencesContribute to matter planning and strategy sessions

Prepare file notes, memoranda, and meeting summaries

Assist with drafting witness statements and affidavits

Liaise with and support barristers, including preparing briefs to counsel

Stay up to date with legal developments and contribute to internal learning sessions

Support business development activities, including writing articles, preparing presentations, and assisting with tenders and client events

Key Skills And Experience

Genuine interest in general insurance litigation spanning financial lines, skilled indemnity, and director and officers (D&O;)

Solid academic credentials, self-driven with excellent verbal and written communications skills.

Robust time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

Commercial awareness and confidence in building a rapport with clients to gain a better understanding of their business' needs and with the assistance of the partner, actively developing these client relationships.
