An exciting chance is now open to join the Social Work Department and Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick. The Senior Social Worker will work with a team of oncology social workers and the KCC multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive social work services to children and young people with cancer and their families. This is a full-time temporary position, with a strong expectation that the role will be extended. The service is embedded within the Mindaroo Comprehensive Children's Cancer Centre, which is leading development in children's cancer care. The Social Worker is well support by the SW Department and KCC with career development opportunities, clinical superivsion, clinicla debriefing and support

- Eligibility for AASW membership with significant post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
- Substantial post graduate experience in social work practice with children and their families.
- A well-developed knowledge of the psycho-social challenges facing families in the relevant clinical area and a sound knowledge of relevant community resources and support services available to the children and families.
- Significant post graduate experience in a variety of social work interventions/modalities including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, case management, counselling, group work.
- Excellent demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical supervision, professional education activities, service planning, and quality improvement activities.
- Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.
- Capacity to share after hours and weekend on call duties
